Special Needs Pets
We always welcome pets with special medical, physical, or emotional challenges. Our staff is trained to accommodate and address those needs, and you will have peace of mind knowing that your pet will be under the watchful eye of our doctor while you are away. We also have a hospitalization ward where your pet will be closely monitored by our veterinary technicians should any medical emergency arise.
Boarding Policy
For the protection of your pet, and of the other boarders, we require:
- Full Physical Exam and fecal exam on every new patient.
- Proof of current DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella for dogs.
Proof of current FVRCP, Rabies, and Bordetella for cats.
If your pet’s vaccinations are not current, they will be administered at check-in and at your expense. However, your pet will have better protection from kennel cough if the Bordetella vaccine is given at least 2 days before coming in for boarding. - Proof of a negative fecal exam within the past 6 months for all dogs. If needed, one will be performed at check-in. This requirement is waived for cats since they do not share a communal exercise/elimination area.
- Flea control: If fleas are found on your pet, we will administer a flea treatment to your pet at your expense.
- Bring any medications that your pet will need while boarding with us so that we can continue his/her therapy.
- If your pet is on a specialized/prescription diet or has a sensitive digestive system, we recommend that you bring his/her food so as to avoid gastric upset while boarding.
- We will need an emergency contact number for you, or someone that can authorize treatment for your pet in case of an emergency or to discuss urgent medical findings upon exam while he/she is here.
You may bring your pet’s food, treats, bed, toys, etc. if you like. If not, Hills Science Diet Maintenance for cats and dogs is our standard offering. Comfy bedding is always available for your pets here at Pet Vac.
Dogs and cats are boarded in separate areas. The dogs have a walled-in courtyard to exercise in. Cats stay in a private condo.
